Seed for Cover Crops
GX Agriculture has been involved with growing seed for over 20 years. We have been growing cover crops since 2010 and now offer cover crop seed for purchase! Our current offering for cover crops is rye seed, but we have experience with other options, including oats, wheat, and tritacale.
What Are Cover Crops?
Cover crops are a way to keep plant life growing on the ground from harvest to planting. Cover crops started as a way to keep the ground from being fallow, but the shown benefits beyond erosion control include improved soil structure, water-holding capacity, organic matter content, and microbial activity. Cover crops enhance the soil your crops live in, which can help boost yields, profitability, and resilience on your farm. They are a long-term investment in your soil that pay off over time.
Why Do I Need Cover Crops?
Cover crops provide soil health with erosion control, improved soil structure, water-holding capacity, organic matter content, microbial activity, weed suppression, and nutrient loss reduction.
